Top 5 Apps

I recently upgraded my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note…aka, the phablet) and I quickly jumped on the Play Store to download my must have apps.

  1. Evernote – one place to take notes and synchronize on every device I have.  When inspiration hits (such as for this website) I put it in Evernote on my phone and it automatically syncs to my other mobile devices (s), home computer & work computer.  One idea distributed everywhere = easily revisiting whenever the need or inspiration hits.
  2. Dropbox – like Evernote for files.  2 GB of free “cloud” (that is a fancy word meaning – on the internet) storage.  I take a pic on my phone, put it in my Dropbox folder and every device that syncs with that Dropbox account now has that picture – my iPad, Windows Tablet, work desktop, home desktop and laptop.  Or spreadsheet.  Or document. From any computer to any computer/mobile device.  Very handy.  One note – if you do sing up, please use this link:  http://db.tt/e3aySXD  I’ll get an add’l 250 MB free and then you can give your friends and family a link so YOU can get 250MB free for each user that signs up (w/ a cap of 8GB).

NOTE: you can also access all notes and files by logging into the websites evernote.com and dropbox.com from any computer w/ internet access.

  1. Mint – mint.com is an all in one website interface that pull in all financial accounts (based on what you setup).  From banking to mortgage, investments, debts, etc.  Couple the convenience with the ability to setup budgets and notifications by text and/or email, Mint is the one stop shop for your financial management.
  2. Angry Birds – I realized this after I switched carriers and phones.  The joy of rediscovering and conquering every level and version Angry Birds is just as fun the 2nd time around.  Throw in all of the different versions – Star Wars, Seasons, Space, RIO, etc….and you have hours of brain numbing fun PLUS, if you have kids, you may actually get a few minutes respite until you hear “Dad, can you help me get past this level?”
  3. YouVersion – every version of the Bible available on your phone (w/ data connection).  Some versions are free to download to have offline.  Throw in daily scriptures, bible reading plan & a notes section to capture your reflections and journaling and the mobile device has now become a full fledged bible on the go.  Never, ever, leave home without it.

Honorable mentions: Alarm Droid & Tiny Flashlight.

We’d love to hear from you – what are your go-to apps?
